Overview

The XCMG ZL50GN is a next-generation 5-ton wheel loader developed by XCMG on the basis of its globalized technology resources. It is the optimized successor to the ZL50G, the leading model of China’s third-generation wheel loaders, and is a first-choice machine for ports, mines, engineering construction and logistics operations.

Key Features

  • High-torque, high-efficiency drive chain with optimized matching.
  • Super-heavy-load structural parts without redundant weight.
  • Extended wheelbase for leading working capacity and stability.
  • Centering design of main hinge joints reduces turning radius, tire wear and energy consumption.
  • Ergonomic integral-skeleton cab with broad visibility, generous space and effective sound insulation.
  • Diversified configurations and attachments for different regions and working conditions.

Performance Highlights

  • 160 kN traction force and dump clearance above 3.5 m handle severe site conditions with ease.
  • ≥ 7,500 kg lifting capacity and high breakout force handle a wide variety of materials.
  • Hydraulic cycle time for raising the bucket is ≤ 6 s; total cycle time is ≤ 10.5 s.

Power and Drive System

  • The ZL50GN uses the WD10G220E21 special engine rated at 162 kW. The brochure specifies a low-speed, low-fuel-consumption engine configuration with strong power and a high torque reserve for instantaneous overload demands.
  • Three-stage desert filter elements are simple to maintain and economical to run.
  • Optional Shangchai engine SC11CB220G2B1.
  • Heavy-duty energy-saving transmission with a high-capacity torque converter maximizes engine power utilization; imported critical components improve overload capacity.
  • Driveshaft flanges follow DIN and SAE specifications with enlarged fastening-bolt distribution for strong torsion resistance in continuous heavy loading.
  • Optional ZF electronic-control countershaft transmission with forward/reverse speeds of 6.5 / 11 / 24 / 38 km/h.
  • Enhanced heavy-duty drive axles use integral ring gears and large-modulus gears for outstanding overload resistance.

Operator Cab and Comfort

  • All-new digitalized VDO combination instrument with clear, elegant display.
  • Steering wheel, seat and pilot joystick are adjustable to the operator’s habits; the follow-up control box moves with the seat for accurate, comfortable operation.
  • Full-coverage interior trim, panoramic glass and super-large spherical rearview mirrors enlarge the field of view by 30%.
  • Damping and noise-reduction measures for cab and engine hood reduce noise by more than 6 dB.
  • The fully enclosed integral-skeleton cab is slightly pressurized with a high-power air-conditioning system for a comfortable and safe environment.

Safety and Convenience

  • Ladders and handrails comply with CE-style standards; anti-skid perforated plates are used on the operation platform.
  • Air-assisted hydraulic four-wheel caliper brakes provide stable, reliable braking.
  • Double-limit steering (primary hydraulic-flexible mode and secondary mechanical-rigid mode) avoids impact and damage.
  • Automatic high-position dumping and leveling with transport-position stop block improves efficiency and reduces material splashing.
  • Full-hydraulic flow-amplifying steering keeps the machine easy and flexible to control.

Durability and Structural Design

  • All-new enhanced heavy-duty design prolongs average service life by about 20%.
  • Robot welding and finite-element analysis reduce stress concentration and support impact and overload resistance.
  • The high-strength wear-resistant bucket uses high-strength steel plates, improving wear and impact resistance by more than 30%.
  • Critical portions use reinforced ribbed-plate structures; optimized boom hinges reduce dumping impact by about 30%.
  • Main hinge joints use pioneering double-row tapered roller bearings with high carrying capacity and long life.
  • International-quality hydraulic units include a priority distributor valve and flow-amplifying valve with double-pump confluence for low pressure loss and low system heat.
  • Hydraulic pipelines use double sealing (DIN 24° taper thread + O-ring) to reduce leakage; wiring harnesses use imported-quality materials.

Maintenance and Service

  • Openable rotary rear hood makes radiator cleaning easy; the large upturning side gate simplifies engine and accessory maintenance.
  • Open-type brake calipers allow brake-pad replacement without removing the tires.
  • Low engine-oil-pressure warning, low brake-pressure warning, and oil-temperature display with high-temperature warning are provided.
  • Optimized lubrication points, access passages and service panels simplify daily maintenance.
  • Full-life-cycle services and a worldwide marketing service network help keep machines running.

Attachments

Optional work tools include clamps for logs and pipe, side-dumping buckets for narrow sites, snow ploughs for road and street work, and a range of pliers, grabs and pallet forks matched to the ZL50GN’s quick-attach system.

Applications

Ports, quarries and mines, engineering construction, aggregate and ore loading, logistics and bulk material handling, and large construction sites.
