Overview

The XCMG XE215D is a 21.5-ton crawler hydraulic excavator developed by XCMG on the basis of internationally proven technology and independent innovation. It delivers more power, lower fuel consumption and stronger operating performance, making it a dependable choice for contractors who need a versatile mid-size machine that can move between earthmoving, dredging, municipal and light quarry work.

Power and Efficiency

  • Cummins QSB7 six-cylinder engine rated at 135 kW @ 2,050 rpm, with maximum torque of 740 N·m @ 900–1,600 rpm, giving strong power reserve for heavy production work.
  • Emissions-reduction technology combined with exhaust gas recirculation lowers nitrogen-oxide emissions — the brochure states 0.4 g/kWh — while ECO mode helps reduce daily fuel use.
  • The large-diameter negative-flow main control valve cuts pressure loss by about 30% for high transmission efficiency.
  • A newly developed mid-position unloading valve lowers standby pressure from 4 MPa to 0.3 MPa, saving about 2% energy.
  • Removing the boom priority valve reduces throttling loss — about 1.7% energy saving in leveling work and 3.8% in loading work.

Strength and Reliability

  • Upgraded undercarriage improves load-bearing performance; key stress-bearing chain-link parts are strengthened for longer track life.
  • Longitudinal chassis beams are redesigned with internal and external reinforcement ribs; X-frame rib plates are thickened by 6 mm, the cross-section raised by 39 mm, and the cover plate thickened by 2 mm for better overall stiffness.
  • The boom uses a swallowtail boot design to reduce stress concentration; the arm side plate is thickened by 2 mm and the front end uses an XCMG-patented T-sleeve.
  • Forged axle housings on the boom and arm increase wear resistance after thermal refining.
  • Turntable side beams use a D-shaped pipe structure and robotic welding for better impact resistance and structural durability.

Operator Comfort and Safety

  • Automatic air-conditioning and heating adjust to indoor and outdoor temperatures; multi-position air outlets support a comfortable working environment.
  • Air-suspension seat with electric heating and multi-dimensional adjustment (rated for 150 kg) isolates vibration.
  • New-generation 7-inch display with clear graphics, integrated control panel and reserved video-display support for multiple formats.
  • Rear and right-side cameras improve visibility around the machine.
  • ROPS-certified cab can be equipped with top, front and side guards for anti-falling-object protection.

Easy Service and Support

  • Central electrical box, air filter, diesel filter, oil filter and pilot filter are all accessible for maintenance, reducing maintenance time by about 10%.
  • Self-lubricating bearings are used at working-device hinges, and engine oil and filter service intervals can reach 500 hours using XCMG’s proprietary technologies.
  • Global after-sales service system with a quick-response support mechanism.

Versatility and Attachments

  • Different boom, arm and bucket combinations adapt the machine to a wide range of working conditions.
  • The multi-functional intelligent work-tool control system supports crushing, shearing, compacting, milling, transporting, grabbing, scraping, loosening and lifting — turning several operations into one machine.
  • Twin-lock / double-lock hydraulic quick coupling with piping and hammer dual-direction piping are standard.
  • Attachment icons below show common tools including compactor, pile driver, crusher pliers, wood grab, breaker, hydraulic shears and scrap grip.

Applications

Irrigation and water conservancy, river dredging, municipal construction, small mine development, earthwork, trenching and demolition.
